RCGI Seasonal Salon: Spring Equinox Issue

It will come as no surprise to regular readers of the Re-formed Congregation of the Goddess-International's e-journal, Seasonal Salon, that all the articles in this issue are fascinating.

"First Blood/Last Blood" by Bellezza Squillace, with art by Rexanne Reeves, is about the blood-bond of women, and includes quotes from Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Joan of Arc, Indira Gandhi, Marie Antoinette, and Joyce Carol Oates.

"Dancing on the Fourth Lines" by Laura Keefe begins with a poem that moves from winter to spring. Keefe then explains that the form of the poem, called "diamante," which has diamond-shaped verses, is used to express metamorphosis.

"Approaches to the Study of Goddess Myths and Images" by Patricia Monaghan is the last of a 4-part series excerpted from her book, The Enclyclopedia of Goddesses and Heroines. In this excerpt, Monaghan discusses the lives and contributions to Goddess Studies of Marija Gimbutas and Paula Gunn Allen.

"How Walking, Giving Birth, and Befriending Others Made Us Human," by Sid Reger explores what makes humans different from other primates, including differences in the birth-giving process and the role of the hormone oxytocin in women's behavior. With an archeological image from 11,000 BCE.
